The Marche is firmly rooted in a enterprise culture with each province boasting its own network of small and medium businesses producing goods and services of a consistent high quality.

Furniture, paper, frozen foods, fishing, footwear, leather goods, musical instruments, DOC and DOCG vineyards, orchards, nurseries and seaside resorts feature among the most important industry and business sectors in the entire region. In fact, the Marche has about 100 brand names, most of which rank among the most well-known in Italy and around the world.

We are often asked about the cost of living here in the Marche by many people buying properties so they can determine whether it is possible to support a particular life style with their level of income. However, it isn't easy to provide precise information since some items cost less here compared to the UK, while others are more expensive. What is important is that inflation across Europe has been accelerating as a result of rising energy costs and consumer prices have risen by 2.5% compared to the same period in 2003. In general, with the introduction of the Euro, prices in Italy have risen and it is fair to say that the cost of living has been boosted by the same influences that have affected prices back home in the UK as well as other European member states.
